Our Adventure Kayaking Beginner Lesson Package offers three FUN and structured 3-hour lessons for the beginner or experienced paddler looking for self-sufficient adventures in calm, protected bodies of water.

Package Overview
We’ll provide everything and teach you about the appropriate comfortable kayaks and gear to buy, how to launch and land, paddle with great technique using your core muscles, and how to get yourself and others back into the kayak if you should accidentally capsize.
Equipment
Kayaks and and all other gear are provided. We do not use sprayskirts in this program so beginning students feel more comfortable entering and exiting the kayak. Students must provide their own paddling clothing.
Duration
You have up to two years to complete the three lessons. Upon completion, you will qualify to proceed to our Adventure Kayaking Intermediate Package.

BEGINNER LESSON 1
Fundamental Skills
Discover the basics of kayaking with our 3-hour Kayaking Fundamentals lesson, which covers the kayak, personal floatation device, and paddle. Learn to carry, launch, and land, and practice proper paddling technique using your core instead of arms and shoulders. The lesson also covers the four strokes for turning, propelling, and stopping the kayak.
BEGINNER LESSON 2
Edging and Efficiency
Become a more graceful, efficient kayaker with this 3-hour lesson that provides an introduction to edging and advanced strokes that will dramatically make you more maneuverable and put a smile on your face. Placing the kayak on edge reduces its turning radius and advanced strokes such as the sculling draw that move the kayak sideways feel like magic on the water.
BEGINNER LESSON 3
Simplified Safety and Rescues
Master essential kayaking safety and rescue skills in this 3-hour lesson on unexpected capsize and kayak towing. Learn how to get yourself and others back into the kayak and remove water from it. Simplified tows for bringing kayakers and their kayaks back together will also be taught. Equipment is provided.

Can I just sign up for a single lesson or do I have to purchase the complete package?
Yes! The package is a better value if you were to do all of the trips, but you can sign up for a single tour, if desired. Just go to our registration page and you can purchase a single trip.
Do I have to do the lessons in any specific order?
No! You can do any trip at any time—no specific order required! : )
Is there a time limit, or can I do all three lessons in a sprint?
Yes! You can do all three lessons as quickly as you’d like. Alternately, if you’d like to stretch them out, you can take up to two years to complete them all. We’re flexible and it’s up to you!
